| Shared Note: - Leo was born near Fostoria, Michigan. He received his education in the Otter Lake School. He spent twenty-four years in the United States Arm y. He married Mary and they had three children. Leo retired and came ba ck to Michigan to live. As a lad, Leo spent sometime with his grandfath er Bruce Hemingway on the farm. In 1937 at the age of twelve, he was inst rumental in saving his grandfather's life, when he was attacked by an ang ry bull. Leo was in the house when he heard his grandfather call for hel p. He ran to the scene, jumped the fence into the pasture lot and seiz ed the bull by the tail. He twisted and pulled the animal's tail so vigo rously, that it turned its attention from the grandfather, allowing h im to crawl to a nearby wire fence and Leo followed. Bruce received so me bruises and broken ribs.
Leo and family were living in Midland, Michigan at the time of his deat h. He died in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was taken to Kansas City for buria l. Mary and daughters moved to kansas City, Missouri.
