iately after graduation and served aboard the battleship West Virginia unt
il World War II was over.

Richard returned to Waverly and then went to the University of Iowa and re
ceived a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at the University of Iowa he rece
ived the Phi Beta Kappa key and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternit
y. He then went to law school and received his law degree.

Richard married Margaret and they had two children.

Richard was considered and outstanding young attorney and appeared to ha
ve a brilliant future when he was suddenly stricken and died in 1961.
