alf, majoring in landscape architecture. He took a course in sociolo
gy at Wayne University. He worked for the Detroit Board of Education in l
andscaping. Since 1933 he was involved in social work. He enlisted in t
he United States Navy in 1942 as an Apprentice Seaman. He was a Pharmacis
t's Mate First Class when he was discharged in 1945. He reutrned to the U
niversity of Michigan to obtain a master's degree in psychology. He was f
ound to have cancer inthe summer of 1946. and his condition worsene
d. He came to Lapeer where he died. His cousin, Frank S. Hemingway, offi
ciated at his funeral. He was buried at Green Corners Cemetery in Hadle
y, Michigan.
