| Shared Note: - Howard graduated from Northwestern High School and the University of Michigan. He played banjo with Gene Goldkettes Dance Orchestra during the 20' s. He played in Europe with Lud Gluskin's Orchestra from 1927 through 193 1. While they were playing in Southern France, Maurice Ravel used to co me to hear them play, and night after night would remain for the whole eve ning. He obviously loved American jazz and dance music, and numerous comp ositions of his reflect this. During the depression, Howard gave up playi ng for a living. He took a job with Capital Airlines and lived in Glevela nd, Wilmette, Illinois, and Washington D. C.. He and Emma had two childre n.
Howard married second time to Kay Savage, cooking editor of the Detroit Fr ee Press. She still lives in their Detroit home.
