hn like his father was a farmer and bought and traded horses and mules. W
hen his children were growing up he became interested in Guernsey cattl
e. He built a herd of registered Guernseys and then sold them. A few yea
rs after selling the Guernsey herd, John and Eliza moved into Allerton a
nd sold their farm to their son, Harry.

John was always interested in ponies and in his later years he hauled a po
ny stallion over a large territory.

John and Eliza celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1960.

John died in 1961 and was buried in Cambria Cemetery, Wayne County, Iowa.

Eliza died Feburary 17, 1878 and was buried in Cambria Cemetery. She w
as born September 5, 1889.
