e. He was raised in Baltimore, Maryland with many summer visits to Lape
er County. He graduated from the Baltimore City College June 19, 1905. W
illiam played LaCross and was on the track team-winning several awards whi
le at Baltimore City College. He moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1906 a
nd entered the University of Michigan. His mother and sister moved to A
nn Arbor with him and he lived with them. His mother rented rooms to stud
ents evidently to help with the family finances. While at the colle
ge he played freshman football and was on the track team. In 1910 he grad
uated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

William moved to Cumberland, Maryland after graduation where he worked wi
th the Taylor Tin Plate Company. In 1911 he married Marjorie and they h
ad two children. They lived in Ann Arbor for many years and he commut
ed to work in Detroit and Lansing. Later they moved to East Lansing, Mich
igan.

March 5, 1935 he joined the Michigan State Highway Department in Lansing w
here he designed bridges for railroads and served with them for twenty-o
ne years before retiring July 7, 1956.

He was interested in sports primarily golf and track and was track offici
al at sone Michigan State College events. He played golf for many years.

After retiring he and Marjorie moved to Largo Florida. They had lived the
re only a short time when Williwm died and was buried at Sylvan Memorial P
ark, Clearwater, Florida.
