| Shared Note: - John graduated from Hampton High School and the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1907. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma social frater nity. He came to Waverly, Iowa in June 1907 and practiced there for ov er fifty years before retiring. He was called Jed by his friends and fami ly.
He married Iva in 1915 and they had four children. John was a good and ap preciated husband. He was a sportsman, a hunter, trap shooter, golfer, a nd in earlier years he played baseball. He hunted in the Dakotas and Cana da and he, with several of his friends, maintained their own hunting lak e. As a dentist he had an excellent reputation and was known throughout I owa. He was a life member of the Iowa Dental Association, for ten yea rs a member of Iowa State Board of Dental Examiners, and a Fellow of the A merican College of Dentists. He was past chairman of the Board of Directo rs of the First National Bank of Waverly and was a communicant of St Andre w's Episcopal Church in Waverly.
John was ill for fourteen years before his death suffering from Parkinso ns Disease. His wife says "The greatness of him as a man, his courage, h is patience, his faith was fully revealed in the way he accepted this drea dful disease." He died at the age of eighty-six at St. Joseph's Mercy Hos pital where he had been a patient for eight days. He was buried at Harlin ton Cemetery. Iva was living in Waverly, Iowa in 1976.
