Show Details Shared Note: - Willie was born in Marathon Township. He was well known throughout the to
wnship. He visited most of the farms to do the threshing. In the winte
r, he used his machine to help harvest the ice on Otter Lake. The ice w
as stored in the ice-houses and shipped out in the summer to Detroit and o
ther cities.

Willie married Emma and they had nine children.

Emma was born in 1869. She died April 9, 1931. Her funeral was held in t
he Otter Lake Methodist Protestant Church. While the service was in progr
ess, the floor on one side of the church gave way and dropped about a foo
t. The casket remained stationary where it stood. The service was comple
ted and the casket and the mourners were taken carefully out the back doo
r. No one was injured. Reverend Frank S. Hemingway was the officiating m
inister.

Willie and Emma are buried in the Hollenbeck Cemetery.
