His military re cords show that he died in the U.S.A. Civil Hospital #1 in Chattanooga, Te nnessee on May 26, 1865. His record shows that he died of "Remit Fever" a nd that he was buried in the same day in grave #678 Section G of the Nor th Cemetery.
A stone was placed for him in the cemetery at Goodison, Michigan.
