William was born in Chemung County in Big Flats, New York. He came to Mic
higan with his father when he was two years old. Brothers Thaddeus and Th
omas J. lived in Michigan. Whem William was twenty eight years of a
ge he started his own buildings on his farm. The house was destroyed by f
ire and he then built a finer one.

William filled several township offices including constable for one yea
r. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and of the Democrat
ic Party. He died at Oxford, Michigan.

Mary's father was in Oakland County before any roads were laid out a
nd is said th have promoted every interest of the neighborhood.

Both Mary and William were buried in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Oakland Coun
ty Michigan.
