| Shared Note: - He moved with his family to Lapeer in 1857. He enlisted in the Michigan Light Artillery on October 5, 1863 and served in the 13th Battery, as a pri vate. He was at Grand Rapids, Michigan in January 1864. He was disabl ed by illness in Reno, Virginia. He was promoted to corporal October 2 9, 1864 and reduced to private on December 12, 1864. He was mustered o ut with his company at Jackson, Michigan on July 1, 1865. He went to Stee lville, Missouri in 1872. In July 1874 he was struck on the back of his h ead and knocked down "by a ruffian while standing on the depot platform ". On December 25, 1874 he married Alice. They had no children. They re turned to Michigan where they resided until 1887. They were listed in t he 1880 census at Hadley. His occupation was listed as "farmer". He a nd his wife returned to Steelville. He was sick for three days at his ho me in Steelville before he died. He was buried from the Methodist Chur ch with the Steelville Post G.A.R. officiating at the grav e.
