| Shared Note: - Hannah appears in the 1830 census as a member of her parents' family. She moved with her family to South Dansville, Stueben County, New York in 1 833. She became acquainted with Thomas W. Babcock who was in the wagon m aking business with her brother George in Angelica, Allegany County. S he probably had moved to Angelica with her father's family. On April 1 0, 1837 Hannah married Thomas and they moved to Oakland County, Michiga n. They traveled with Hannah's brother George, and his newly married wif e, Sarah. Both young couples settled in Orion where the Hemingways' Unc le Needham was building a flouring mill. Thomas continued in partnersh ip with George for awhile, but then they dissolved the parthership becau se business was too slight.
In March of 1840 Hannah's father, James, wrote his brother Needham a lett er and included a page addressed to Thomas and Hannah who evidently liv ed nearby. The 1850 census shows them at Hadley with three children. Tho mas was listed as a farmer. Hannah's children were born in Orion Townshi p, Oakland County. Thomas and Hannah had at least five children. The fami ly moved to Wayne County, Iowa in May 1856 when their daughter, Ella R., w as three weeks old.
Hannah was converted at the age of eighteen (M.E.) and remained a consiste nt member. She is a charter member of the Hadley M. E. Church.
They moved from their farm to a home in Cambria in about 1884. Thomas di ed in about 1886, shortly after they moved to town. Hannah died in her ho me in Cambria, Iowa and is buried at Cambria.
