ty he went into partnership with his father and his brother, Henry, in t
he lumbering business." He married Mary in 1861 and they were the paren
ts of five children.

"In 1865, Isaac and his brother, Henry, built an extensive sawmill which t
hey operated under the firm name of H. L. & I. L. Hemingway. They carri
ed on this business successfully for twelve years. The mill was sold a
nd later it burned." Isaac held seceral township offices and was justi
ce of the peace for many years.

Isaac's wife, Abigail ‎(Abby)‎, was born in Oakland County, Michigan. Th
ey are both buried in Hollenbeck Cemetery.
