Sarah was blind. It was reported that her sons sometimes played pran
ks on her. While peeling potatoes, she would put the pan down beside he
r. She would put her hand in the pan to see of she had enough potatoes f
or the meal. Many times the pan would be empty because the boys had tak
en the potatoes.

Sarah died in 1890 in Marathon Township and was buried in Hollenbeck Cemet
ery, Lapeer County, Michigan.
